The 5th Annual Rockstar Energy Drink MAYHEM Festival Announces VIP Charity Ticket Auctions that will put Fans Onstage with Slipknot, Slayer, Motorhead or Anthrax

Rockstar MAYHEM Festival, featuring headliners Slipknot, Slayer, Motorhead and Anthrax, is proud to announce the 2012 VIP Charity Ticket Auction that will put fans onstage with their favorite bands. Proceeds will benefit Metal of Honor and Living The Dream Foundation.

Beginning Thursday, May 17, 2012 and running for ten-days, fans can bid on eBay for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to receive two (2) VIP passes to the Rockstar Energy Drink MAYHEM Festival. In addition, the top bidder and their guest will watch their favorite band perform from the best seats in the house: ONSTAGE! They will also receive: Level 1 premium reserved seats OR General Admission ‘Pit’ tickets, a backstage guided tour to see the “inner workings” of a large scale concert festival (who knows who you’ll meet?), all-day access to the Rockstar Energy Drink VIP Lounge, a one-of-a-kind Rockstar Energy Drink MAYHEM Festival custom artwork drum head autographed by all members of one (1) of their favorite bands on the tour, and front-of-the-line access to all band signings.

The Rockstar Energy Drink MAYHEM Festival eBay ticket auctions will begin on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 8:30 p.m. PST, CST and EST, when 27 pairs of tickets with accompanying VIP credentials for all 27 MAYHEM dates will be posted to eBay as TEN-Day Auctions. Metal of Honor is a charity program started in 2011 that raises financial support and awareness for military non-profits while showing gratitude to our military men and women during the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour. The 2012 Tour will focus efforts on The Pathway Home (PTSD rehabilitation facility – www.thepathwayhome.org), Hope for the Warriors (Military family assistance, veteran transition assistance, and employment preparedness – www.hopeforthewarriors.org) and Hire Heroes USA (Started by US Marine and UFC fighter, Brian Stann – www.hireheroesusa.org). Stone Sour Parts Ways With Shawn Economaki

Stone Sour has parted ways with bassist Shawn Economaki.

James Root posted a picture on his Instagram account yesterday (May 3) of an unidentified bassist taken during the recording sessions for Stone Sour‘s new album and wrote, “Shawn is no longer with us. A lot has happened in the past year… We need to move forward and [there will] be more detail when the time is right. He’s still a great friend and we’re in touch. But for now we have a mystery dude that shreds filling in for the studio.”

Corey Taylor confirmed the news via a tweet earlier today, writing, “As some of you might have heard but I’ll confirm it: Shawn Economaki is no longer with Stone Sour. We wish him luck in the future.”

Shawn Economaki left Stone Sour in April 2011 in the middle of the “Avalanche Tour” to deal with “personal issues.” He was temporarily replaced by Jason Christopher, who has since joined Sebastian Bach’s touring band.

NME recently conducted an interview with Sid Wilson, in which #0 of Slipknot said that The 9 would enter the studio at the beginning of next year and, as soon as singer Corey Taylor had completed his touring with side project Stone Sour, they would be back working on a new record..

Asked about the possibility of a new Slipknot record, Sid Wilson said: “We’ve got Mayhem Festival this summer and, after we break for winter and Stone Sour are done with their tour, we’ll be back in the kitchen with Slipknot. Actually before Stone Sour finish touring we’ll be in the studio preparing for Corey‘s return, keeping the irons hot.”

Stone Sour To Release New Album In October

Stone Sour will release its fourth album in October via Roadrunner Records. The band has yet to reveal the title of the new CD, which is being recorded at Sound Farm Studios in Jamaica, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Staind).
