OpiumofthPeople.net came to life on December 2, 2007. And since Day 1 OOTP continues to support Slipknot.
OOTP was featured in the Links section on Slipknot’s Official Website – Slipknot1.com on December 3, 2007 (just one day after the grand opening,) and it was there until the recent redesign of Slipknot1.com
Why Opium… ? Well, it’s Opium of the People, just like the song on the Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) Album.
Slipknot is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. Slipknot is the Opium of the People.
I started this fan site because I love Slipknot. And OpiumofthePeople.net is all about supporting the band.
This website isn’t done for my personal profits. OpiumofthePeople.net is a Non-Profit, Non-Commercial website. I have never earned a dollar on Opium.
As some of you already know, OOTP is managed by one person. And yes, it’s hard, but as I always say, if at least one Maggot likes my website, appreciates the work I do, then it’s worth it. And it so happens that there are tens of thousands Maggots out there that visit OpiumofthePeople.net
And there’s also Slipknot, they like Opium, so it’s just…(SIC)!

Streaming two whole tracks from their new album several weeks before its release date, Slipknot have been unusually generous with their online content. Why, you don’t even have to supply your email address to hear the tunes… The official site is (appropriately) split into nine sections, which you enter via a hole in a creppy bowling ball, and there’s tons on offer. Videos of several songs, a discography of their albums to date, a photo gallery and the usual bumph fill it out. It even links to a fansite called…

The slick-looking site has pretty much everything for the dedicated maggot, taking in press releases as far back as 1998, Q&As with each member of the band, plus details of the withdrawn songs from the first album, the band’s early demos, a complete tourography back to 1996… whoever’s behind this, it’s no wonder they’re on the band’s Christmas card list. This is the ultimate ‘Knot resource. Well, apart from this magazine, of course.
