Corey Taylor Talks About Stone Sour’s “House Of Gold And Bones”

Slipknot - Corey TaylorRolling Stone recently spoke to Corey Taylor (#8 of Slipknot) about Stone Sour‘s upcoming double album House of Gold and Bones. You can read a few excerpts below.

Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor is preparing to release two albums from his reunited metal side project, Stone Sour. House of Gold and Bones Part One and its follow-up, House of Gold and Bones Part Two, tell the tale of a young man at a crossroads between staying in adolescence or facing the challenges of adulthood.

“Each song tells a different part of the story, but it’s so unique unto itself,” Taylor tells Rolling Stone. “That was one of the things we really wanted to go for; we didn’t want to do a batch of tunes that all sound alike. We wanted to make sure each song had its own soul, basically.”

Stone Sour “Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero” Song Review

Rick Florino from ArtistDirect posted a review of Stone Sour‘s new songs from the band’s upcoming album House of Gold and Bones Part 1. You can read an excerpt about “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” below.

Stone Sour incinerate all expectations with “Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero”, the first salvo from House of Gold and Bones Part 1.

“Beginning with one mean riff from premier guitar duo James Root and Josh Rand, frontman Corey Taylor eerily assures, “No one’s laughing now”. As the distortion echoes, tension mounts, and the song snaps into a heavy thrash break with Taylor screaming sharply.”

Stone Sour – Five Reasons We Can’t Wait For “House of Gold and Bones”

Rick Florino from ArtistDirect has listed five reasons why we can’t wait for Stone Sour‘s upcoming double album House of Gold and Bones. You can find one of them below.

1. It’s a Concept Album

“There is no one else in the genre giving fans this deep of an experience. Coupling singer Corey Taylor‘s brilliant lyrics and immortal voice with Jim Root and Josh Rand‘s flawless guitar playing, Roy Mayorga‘s thunderous drums, and studio bassist Rachel Bolan‘s grooves, the music tells a haunting story that’s as unforgettable as the songs themselves. House of Gold and Bones is more than just an album. It’s a world for fans to immerse themselves in. This is Stone Sour at their most cinematic, and we’re waiting with baited breath to watch it unfold. ”

Slipknot – Comcast Center, Mansfield – Live Review Available

Slipknot - James RootRick Florino from ArtistDirect has posted a review from Slipknot‘s recent show at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA. Below you can read an excerpt from the review.

In this day and age, everything feels so manufactured, especially music.

We’re trapped in an era where artistic mediocrity isn’t only accepted, it’s encouraged. There’s a void for something tangible and pure. That’s why Slipknot continues to be so important.

When these men hit the stage, it’s unflinchingly as raw, real, and rapturous as it gets from the mind-blowing musicianship to the violence each member physically and spiritually endures. During the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in Mansfield Massachusetts, the Iowa collective hypnotized and haunted the packed Comcast Center like only it can. A red curtain rose after the intro from their classic self-titled debut, all eight musicians stood still staring out into the night hell-bent on performing a show no one forgot or dying in the process.

Immediately, “(sic)” pummeled powerfully driven by Joey Jordison’s flawless, fleet-footed double bass. Transmissions of evil emanated from Sid Wilson’s turntable and Craig Jones’s sampler, while Chris Fehn and M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan rode their drum risers to the sky while pounding the kegs as if their very existence depended upon it. Mick Thomson and James Root remain the most impressive modern metal guitar duo, thrashing through technical assault and battery while anchoring the grooves as well.
