07/03/09 - Slipknot Planning Halloween-themed Tour For All
This is a piece of news that was posted on 105.7 The Point on May 20, 2009. You can read the news below.
Slipknot will spend most of the summer on the European festival circuit, but the Iowa-based group tentatively plans one more North American run before closing the books on their 2008 album, All Hope Is Gone. Singer Corey Taylor gave us some hints about what the band has in store: "The people who put together the Mayhem festival are talking about doing a short little festival that is horror-themed. The people who are involved in it kind of view that genre the way we do, you know. We tend to go more for the psychological than for the shock, you know, the schlock, really. So we're kind of putting it together as just a kind of little cherry on the top of this crazy year-and-a-half."
Taylor will play a few solo shows before Slipknot heads to Europe.
The vocalist and his other band, Stone Sour, will head into the studio later this year to begin work on a new record.

07/01/09 - Anthrax and Slipknot to present the 2009 Kerrang! Awards
The 2009 Awards will be held at a top secret London location on August 3, and this year we have not one, but two, metal gods presiding over the chaos, namely Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian.
"It's going to be awesome presenting the Awards with my good friend Corey," says Scott Ian. "I've done it the past few years on my own and let me just say it gets a little lonely up there. I really can't wait."
"When I was asked to co-host the Kerrang! Awards my response was very simple: when and where?," adds Taylor. "Even though I don't stand a chance in hell of keeping up with the mighty Scott Ian, I plan to hold my own in the only way I know possible... through sheer determination and large amounts of coffee."
When asked if Taylor should wear his trademark Slipknot mask onstage for the ceremony, Scott Ian replied: "I'd actually prefer it if he didn't because I find it a little disconcerting. Anyway, why should he get to hide away? Maybe I should be the one wearing a mask? See how he likes it!"
"Scott and I are going to have the time of our lives," Taylor insisted. "And maybe if I'm lucky, he'll dance with me later."
In tomorrow's Kerrang! magazine we will reveal the shortlist for this year's awards and voting will recommence right here on the K! Awards blog, for only you can decide which of rock's leading lights will walk away with those much-coveted shiny trophies K! on the night. (Or more likely, the following morning, given the ceremony's debauched reputation...)

Albums Of The Decade: Slipknot - Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)
Once a week on Metal Hammer, we’ll be picking one of the best albums of the decade and lavishing you with the story behind the record, related videos and links. To kickstart the series, we’re taking a look at Slipknot’s landmark modern metal masterpiece, ‘Vol.3: (The Subliminal Verses).
Coming off of the back of the ‘Iowa’ album, Slipknot had been painted as a band in disarray. At the risk of sounding a wee bit on the cheesy side, the press were painting them out as a band at war.

06/29/09 - Slipknot - 10 Year Anniversary

10 years ago the debut album from the 9 piece band from Des Moines had its premiere. Slipknot went on their first real tour. They went on OzzFest and blew everyone away.
10 years ago the self-titled Slipknot album was something probably no body expected to hear, and Slipknot at that time was probably a band no body expected to see. Many people made fun of the band, of the way they looked, with all these masks and jumpsuits.
But Slipknot never cared. They said "Fuck You" and stayed true to themselves, stayed true to the music. Many things were against them. They were (and still are) a nine piece band from Des Moines, IA, with masks, playing brutal music. There were many people who said that the band won't survive, but after 10 years Slipknot is as strong, if not stronger, as they were back in '99.
June 29, 1999... That was the day that changed the music world. Well, actually the world was never the same after Slipknot's first show at OzzFest in West Palm Beach. People could witness the energy and complete insanity when Slipknot performed live. A month after Slipknot's first OzzFest show the self-titled album, a 15 song disasterpiece, had its premiere.
During these 10 years Slipknot infected many people, who changed into maggots. The real maggots are still with the band, and Slipknot continues their plan. And the plan is to infect as many people as possible. Infect them with the sickness. That's Slipknot.
10 years ago Slipknot changed everything. After that nothing was the same. And still nothing is the same. And nothing will ever be the same again.
Nothing...
06/29/09 - The Seed
The seed is listening.
Planted in a seat of filth, degradation, distortion of truth, exploitation of visions, pungent olfactory irritation, megalomaniacal misfits and outspoken self-righteousness, this seed represents the becoming, the anti-abomination, the awareness, the full-frontal unleashing that Can't Fucking Take It Anymore.
Right-to-lifers taking lives in the name of "God".
(Bullshit)
Politicians smiling through lying, back-stabbing teeth.
(Drivel)
Holier than-thou's pushing tunnel-visions on uncorrupted minds.
(Had Enough)
False prophets (spelled P-R-O-F-I-T-S) in league with the REAL deadly sins: Cover-ups, manipulation, strong-arming, intimidation, deviation, second-hand smokescreens, and retardation of the BIG FUK'N PICTURE.
(What the fuck...)
Teachers of our young being paid like convenience store clerks.
(intolerable)
The seed is fierce. The seed listens.
It hears defenseless children cry out as 9 to 5 calloused knuckles beat them because one piece of cereal fell on an already dilapadated floor. It hears the anguish that the father feels at snapping on his sons or daughters because his outlook is so fucking bleak, he lashes out at his family.
It hears the prayers of teenagers who have no guidance and no encouragement, no psychological tether, because the system doesn't give one big gaping, bleeding, herpes-infested rat's ass about these poor half-full cups until they reach "Military ages." Oil and Blood for the wheel which is your government.
NO FUCKING MORE!!
Those who defy will fall, those who deny will see the light or see stars, those who try to destroy will be destroyed themselves, those who demean will be dragged naked through the streets and beaten, those who try to dictate will be dealt with, and those who desecrate will be made an example of. The Monstrosity that is the sad shadow-self of society cannot be allowed to ferment and stagnate any longer. It's safe to say "divine" intervention is about a "tooth fairy/santa claus" away from happening, and those who sit on their fat asses waiting for that to happen are sloth, non-vertebrae, quivering, ignorant parts of the problem in the first place.
The seed is listening.
The seed is seething.
The seed is waiting.
And the seed is going to rip out the jugular and bleed the bloated disenchanted establishment.
Feed the seed.

06/29/09 - Vol. 3 Mask Review - Take 3
Some of you probably remember the previous two reviews of my Corey Taylor Vol. 3 masks that you could read here at OOTP. This is my third review of my Corey Taylor Vol. 3 mask. But this time the masks are completely different. Alex aka AgothInnCloth from ShadowMasks.net has sent me his latest version of the Subliminal Verses masks.
The newest creation from Alex is a rubber Corey Taylor Vol. 3 mask, with metal staples, elastic jaw string and a imitation leather strap. The size of this mask has been improved. And it actually looks like the real thing.

As we all know quality Slipknot masks have to be tested in extreme conditions. That's why I recently went to 2 Slipknot concerts and checked if the mask can survive the sickness. Two shows, 17 songs each, 90 minutes of headbanging, jumping, screaming and singing. Times two. Complete madness. And the masks? Well, wearing a Slipknot mask during a Slipknot concert, doing exactly the same stuff (except the backflip which Corey used to do at the end of Disasterpiece) that #8 does, that just blows your mind away. At least it destroyed mine.
And I have to say that the reactions of people were different when they saw a guy in a uniform wearing a mask. It's a head-turn, that's for sure. Some people even wanted to take some photos with me. I'm not sure, but I believe it was because of my mask and not because of me being a wonderful person (joke.)
After the first show there were 2 girls who wanted to try the mask on. And they actually did (you can see the photos of them wearing the mask below.)

Below you can watch a video featuring the yellow mask:
Here are some photos of me wearing the mask:

You can view more photos of the mask at ShadowMasks.net
To sum it up, I have to admit that once again Alex (ShadowMasks.net) has take in to a new, higher level. This time it's pure insanity, it's just out of this world.

06/28/09 - Metaltown: MJ Tribute - "Beat It"
In tribute to Michael Jackson, Slipknot played the song Beat It as their outro instead of 'Til We Die. You can hear the song at the end of the video, which can be viewed below.
06/27/09 - Metal Hammer: Slipknot - Take No Prisoners; Excerpts
In the latest Metal Hammer magazine (Issue 193) there's an interview with Corey and The Clown. They both look back at the past 10 years of the sickness, talk about really interesting things.
You can read some excerpts from the article below.
As good as Slipknot are, their intensity has been unavoidably diluted by their success and although Corey insists that Slipknot shows are "like the World Series of Poker... they'll always be the nuts!", there are no 'maggots' lurking in the parking lot before the show, scaring the crap out of passes by, just regular rock fans who have come to see the big show.
Asked if there are any real 'maggots' left, Clown looks genuinely hurt.
"Barely," he says. "It's bigger than them now too and that's sad."
Corey Taylor: "There are still some hangers in the band who are like, 'We can't do this or that' and I'm like, 'Why not?'
If we're gonna cross over then let's do it! But ever though we've had incredible success there are still certain hardcore people in the band that feel like we can't play certain songs, like Circle or Vermilion Pt 2 or Snuff. Fucking grow up! If we're not gonna play them live then we shouldn't put them on the album..."
Clown: "I'm not the guy I was 10 years ago and if I was I'd be dead."
