The foetal stages of the band Slipknot began way back in 1992 in the basement of Paul Gray under the name Painface (A band name Anders Colsefni later re-used). Although the band did not assemble under the title Slipknot, the group had the aggressive feel you’d expect from Anders Colsefni, Shawn Grahan, Paul Gray and Patrick Neuwirth. During this early period the songs “Slipknot”, “Gently”, “Idiot”, “Whats wrong” and “Wise up” were recorded, later to be known as “The basement sessions”. Unfortunately Shawn got to busy with work and the project fell through.
Line-up:
Anders (vocals)
Shawn (drums)
Paul (bass)
Pat (guitar)
Who is the guitarist, Pat ?
Patrick M. Neuwirth (nicknamed NEKCHECK) or Pat was in the original Slipknot line-up (Slipknot chapter 1) in 91-93.Pat used to help Shawn Crahan’s first band Heads On The Wall which contained Quan Nong (ex-slipknot guitarist).
Pat is currently making a living as a Metal sculptor and furniture designer. He has been building up this business full time for the last three years and he’s really starting to see the returns.
When Pat was with them they called themselves Painface, and before that they called themselves “Pull My Finger” later shortened to “Pull”. Andy used the “Painface” name shortly after he left SK. Patrick was the “very, very” first guitarist – he only played with the guys for a few months during spring ’92 – when SK reformed in late 95 – it featured a new line-up.
